On the bottom of the carburetor is a little chamber that fills up with gas. It’s sometimes called the ‘bowl’ and other times called the ‘float chamber’. There is a little float in there that closes a valve when the chamber is full. As the carburetor ***** gas out of this little chamber, the float drops and opens a valve which allows more gas in. When the gas reaches the right level, the float rises and closes the valve. The idea is to keep it at a certain level, much like the float in the back of the toilet.

It sounds like there’s something wrong with this part of the carburetor. Maybe there’s some dirt in the valve that keeps it from closing all the way. Maybe the float has a leak in it and is sinking.

The bowl usually comes off pretty easily, either it unscrews or there’s a little spring clip you take off and it just drops right off. You can find the valve and clean it out–it’s not complicated, you can figure it out if you just look at it carefully. You might need a new valve or a new float.

Sounds like a bad gasket. The good thing is since it is a moped, then it will be pretty easy to rebuild the whole carburetor
